How to increase your creativity in a second

Lack of ideas? Need to be more creative? Don’t know how to come up with new ideas? The way is simple. Look at the colour green!

According to the study 69 men and women were given only two minutes to come up with as many ideas as they could, how a tin can could be used.

Before beginning the creativity test half of the group was shown a white rectangle and the rest – green rectangle.

Participants who saw green rectangle before the task came up with more creative ideas than those who saw white.

Study author Dr. Stephanie Lichtenfeld, an assistant professor of psychology at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich says that the reason of the result could be that green is a signal of growth (physical and psychological). ”Green may serve as a cue that evokes the motivation to strive for improvement and task mastery, which in turn may facilitate growth. ”

Besides that green is considered as the most restful colour for human eyes, it turns out to be also the source of creativity.
